BOUNDARY COMMISSION FOR ENGLAND
The Boundary Commission for England has recently published initial proposals for new Parliamentary constituencies in England. The current proposal puts Wembury and Brixton Parishes within the Plymouth Sutton constituency. This means that at a later date both parishes can be taken over by Plymouth without recourse to government approval.
A better alternative is to put the two parishes within the new proposed Tavistock/Okehampton constituency which is a rural constituency and not urban like Plymouth Sutton. This will protect the rural nature of both parishes.
Please let the Boundary Commission have your views before 5 December – log on to their website www.independent.gov.uk/boundarycommissionforengland and fill in their response form before 5 December 2011.
Use the suggestion below for their comments section.
Wembury Parish Council do not wish to be transferred to the Plymouth Sutton Constituency. The Parish is a rural area and has nothing in common with urban Plymouth. Instead Wembury and Brixton Parishes should be transferred to the new Tavistock/Okehampton constituency as this is a rural constituency. This change could be offset by adjusting the transfer of the two Plymstock wards to Tavistock/Okehampton and the three Plympton Wards to the Plymouth Sutton constituencies. Wembury Parish Council should be grateful if you would consider this change.

DOG OWNER FINED
An irresponsible dog owner was recently fined £200 plus costs for walking his dog on a South Hams DC beach where dogs are banned during the summer months. Dog fouling is again becoming a problem within Wembury Parish despite numerous signs warning irresponsible dog owners that they can be fined.
Please collect any dog waste in a plastic bag and put it in a dog bin, or any public litter bin, or take it home and put it in your grey bin. There are certain areas where there is persistant dog fouling. If any member of the public can let me know the names of those responsible or any details of such on offence then I will ensure that the Dog Warden makes a call to speak to the person concerned.
Repeated offenders will be fined. Save your money and act responsibly.
See below the problems that dog faeces can cause to small children.
DOG FOULING
Dog fouling in any part of Wembury Parish is unacceptable, but is particularly worrying when it is left where children play. Dog faeces are known to carry the toxicara parasite, which can cause blindness in children. There is also concern that E-coli may be passed by contact with dog faeces.
The Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 states that dog fouling must be picked up and disposed of forthwith. Bagged faeces may be deposited in a dog bin, litterbin or household dustbin. Bags to collect dog fouling can be obtained from most stores or local shops.
There is NO EXCUSE for any dog fouling in the playing field, or indeed anywhere else in the Parish. The South Hams Council Dog Warden is aware of our problems and will be making extra visits to the area. Please make sure that you are not subject to a £50 on the spot fine or a maximum £1,000 fine if taken to court.
As well as being unsightly and messy, dog fouling can be a serious health hazard. Please help us to clean the area up and make it a safe environment in which our children can play.
Should you see any offence occur or have any information, please contact your Parish Council or the Dog Warden on 01803 861117.
All information is treated in the “strictest confidence”.
